One of the nice things about having two false starts with other orthodontists is that it made the many merits of Dr. Ashouri's practice all the more appreciable.
My case took me all the way through two jaw surgeries, a palatal expansion and 2 years of braces. Dr. Ashouri was with me through the entire process, giving good perspective on all the decision points and always available for the fine-tunings to keep things on track.
The office itself naturally reflects the values and virtues of Dr. Ashouri's practice. There's a little spot for kids, fresh coffee right by the door, two massage chairs, and a lot of natural light. The skeptic could easily dismiss it as good interior design, but then you start talking to any member of the staff and you can tell they take a genuine interest in you as a person going through a tricky procedure, and that they do work together as a team, as a family. There's an element of joviality here, something that you find in the best of working environments.
So 2 years later, having started with a ridiculous crossbite with one tooth crowded far behind the others, I'm now smiling pretty, having received top-notch orthodontic care from a practice that has indeed treated me like family through the entire process, made coming in for a visit more of a get-together than a chore, and whose expertise has made them the perfect partner on every aspect of the most complex medical procedure I've ever undergone.
One subtlety you might appreciate is that the office complex itself smells of fresh cedar--something you'll notice as you wrap up your visits and step outside.
I've also worked as the photographer for her annual Persian New Year party, where her gift for community-building is all the more apparent. This is a practice that is fundamentally people-centric. 5 stars, well earned by excelling on all dimensions!

I had been looking for an orthodontist to straighten my very crooked teeth and overbite for a while. Most dentists I saw turned me away and said that Invisalign won't work for me, but being a professional, I really didn't want to have braces again - even clear braces would have been showing somewhat. I found Dr. Ashouri's office through a good friend who had great things to say about the office.
It turns out there are different levels of training and expertise with Invisalign, and Dr. Ashouri is within the top 5% of Invisalign braces providers. She has lots of experience and training. She assured me that my teeth can be aligned with Invisalign and then she did it! My teeth look great and feel great. I recommend their office to ANYONE without reservations for anyone who needs braces or Invisalign. I must say that not only am I happy with my teeth and my smile, I always loved going to their office since everyone is always so friendly and pleasant, and they always have fun contests and decorations. You actually feel GREAT when going to their office. How many dental offices can you say that about? :)

I was referred to Dr. Ashouri by a good friend who was being treated as an adult patient. Dr. Ashouri also was treating the friend's son. They raved about her. Our pediatric dentist kept telling us to wait until our kids were older to see an orthodontist, but I had heard that Dr. Ashouri did a free consultation with no obligation. As it turned out, it's good that we went because both of my daughters (ages 7 and 9) have been able to benefit from early intervention with their treatment. Dr. Ashouri is wonderful to work with-great with kids and also with parents! She's always willing to take extra time to explain her rationale or deal with questions. The fact that she is on the faculty at UCSF teaching classes to dentists and orthodontists in training gives me confidence to know that she is on the cutting edge of innovations in treatment. One more thing, I've referred many friends to her and she is always very honest about her recommendations for treatment. For some kids she recommends treatment right away, but for others she advises no treatment or for parents to bring them back in 6 months-2 years. I feel confident that she is not just looking to make a buck, but is driven by her integrity as a health care provider.
